President, Gershow Recycling
Kevin Gershowitz is the president of Gershow Recycling, which was founded by his father, Sam, in 1964. With 10 scrap processing locations throughout Long Island and Brooklyn, Gershow is one of the leading scrap processing companies in New York state. Kevin joined the company in 1989 following his graduation from Ithaca College.
With his brother, Elliot, uncle Joe Gershowitz and a team of amazing people, Kevin oversees the company’s day-to-day business operations, including overseeing legal and regulatory matters. He spearheaded the company’s state-of-the-art technological improvements over the past decade, including the electrification of its shredder and the installation of its state-of-the art nonferrous processing plants. The company is in the process of modernizing its rail-siding infrastructure and transportation capabilities as well as expanding the construction and demolition portion of its business with plans to erect its third C&D station next year.
In addition to his role as company president, Kevin serves as a board member of the New York chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries and has forged strong relationships with the political and environmental community, strengthening Gershow’s reputation as a modern recycler of scrap metal, cognizant of its dual role as a leading manufacturer and environmental company.
He and his wife Marnie have three children: Jared, Emily and Max.
